Year 1947 saw many people migrate from Pakistan to India. A great influx from Sialkot - the globally known hub for the surgical instruments came and settled in Delhi. Some pioneers formed an association of such traders in 1951. Now it is known as 'The Surgical Manufacturers & Traders Association'.

Today, the association has taken a very meaningful shape and is known to the trade for its innovative features. The Latest being this WEBSITE created to cater to the needs of its constituents and serve the Medical Fraternity as well. We hope, this website would meet your expectations. Views and suggestions from members would always be solicited to improve this site for benefit to all.

MR. PRADEEP CHAWLA

(PRESIDENT)

Dear fellow Members
Greetings for the great times!

It’s my great privilege to be in direct interaction with you through this website and it is my pride indeed to be a part of its launch.

This appurtenance identifies SMTA members and gives us a comprehensive contact details of all our brethren in the industry. It also provides the targeted access to the key decision makers. I hope we all find it informative and user friendly.

Our passive obsession at SMTA has impelled us to conceptualise this fresh site for the benefit and general interest of our camaraderie. This new edition is a reflection of our continuous endeavour to bring value to our members. The webpage provides useful information to those eager to find the right path for the development of their business and to increase business and network opportunities for their market expansion.

An association, as we perceive is judged as per the value it provides to its members. Today, SMTA is a pan India entity and has a membership of more than 300 and is still growing. We continue to explore ways to deliver greater value beyond our current initiatives to all our members in creating networking platforms, initiating industry promotion and by becoming guiding force for members’ cynosure towards commerce & trade.

The last year and a half has been an eventful time for any business - in particular for the industry, with many market and political changes affecting the sector. During this time SMTA has worked hard at being the voice of the trade on national issues and have continued to actively monitor federal and national policies, programmes and legislative initiatives that had impact on the activities and services provided by our members.

We have been holding onto our hats as the industry grappled with a shedload of issues since recent times. Well, in the upcoming times too, the road does not appear to be smooth with a lot on anvil in both business and political arena. It is to be dealt with representation of collective opinions in the best interest of all, and will continue to remain SMTA’s goal to ensure that our voice is heard by the influencers. We believe that we at SMTA have been successful in meeting our objectives during such times and look forward to continued success in times ahead. It has never been more important to keep abreast of federal and national initiatives that could have financial, operational, and environmental implications for the business community. Similarly, defending the interests of surgical sector in these uncertain times has never been more crucial.

All office bearers and executives deserve acknowledgements for their respective support throughout with their great efforts and innumerable hours contributed by being terrific volunteers. No doubt, my thanks are for each and every member of our fraternity too, who form the very crux of our being. My special beatitude for Mr. Puneet Bhasin for all the support rendered to give shape to my thoughts and vision.

Dear friends, let us trudge through the greens & thorns together following the footprints left for us by our great predecessors to follow and succeed.

Thank you – Thank you all.

MR. PUNEET BHASIN

(SECRETARY)

Dear Friends,
It is a moment of immense pleasure to be with you in my capacity as Secretary - SMTA. It’s a privilege to be part of SMTA’s management team and take part in its quest for attaining greater success in the future.

The SMTA is in essence a platform for cooperation and its achievements are a reflection of its members’ determination to contribute selflessly in its endeavor. Each of SMTA Member Company faces its own unique mix of conditions, challenges and opportunities, which lead to their development in different areas of strength and competence. By combining these strengths together in a meaningful way and sustained manner, great achievements are taking place.

In my opinion, the issues faced by the industry are important for SMTA members and should be tackled aggressively. In the current scenario, the challenges which our members confront are too complex to consider taking them single-handedly. Therefore, unified cooperation or combined strength of all members is the key to a more promising future for our industry.

We, at SMTA office, are committed to collaborate with our partners, including fellow associations and federations, to deliver distinguished services and support to our member companies through our working committees. We also actively endorse sustainable development practices and initiatives.

It is indeed a great pleasure in connecting today with all fellow members through this new edition of SMTA webpage. I earnestly believe that its users would find it friendly and useful while surfing through it.

I would like to convey my hearty gratitude for Mr. Rajesh Sawhney, President & Chairman - Directory & Publishing sub Committee and his team who accomplished this challenging job. I also wish to thank all my friends from this family of associates, who form the real core of this esteemed organization.

With this note, I wish you all Happiness & Success – Jai Hind.

With warm regards
Puneet Bhasin
Secretary
The Surgical Manufacturers & Traders Association.
